Keynote Speaker: TBA

The English Graduate Student Union of West Virginia University is pleased to announce our annual interdisciplinary conference, taking place on Saturday, March 10th  at the WVU Downtown Campus in Morgantown, West Virginia. The theme this year will be exploring the subject of “strange matters” and seeks to look further at the multifaceted ways that we can think of and identify intersections between “matter” and “strangeness,” whether on a local, global, or individual scale.
Presenters should feel free to explore the idea of “matter” in some of its broadest terms. Guiding questions include: What is strange about “matter”? What are the properties of materiality within a digital landscape? How does the Anthropocene affect our perceptions and evaluation of the material world? Beyond these, we urge you to broadly explore all questions of, or pertaining to, strangeness, “matter,” and material.

Creative writing panels in prose and poetry are also encouraged.

Questions about the conference and paper/panel proposals may be sent to egsuconference@gmail.com, btalukonis@mix.wvu.edu, or cmurban@mix.wvu.edu

Submission Deadline: January 13th, 2017.
